Welcome to Project Alchemy, Australia's specialist source of Project Management resources for
the consultant or project manager. We aim to help you become a

We are an Australian-owned publisher of Project Management books and
tools designed to promote project competency to individuals and
organisations working in both business and technical projects. Drawing upon our principal's
familiarity with international standards and his experience managing
projects in Australia, Asia and the USA, we offer effective, locally
produced products which will simplify your management tasks.

Our principal, John Flynn, is a leading project
manager and consultant based in Sydney, and is also a qualified workplace assessor,
specialising in assessing and counselling
Project Managers as they seek professional accreditation with their
professional bodies. John is a leading practitioner of
project manager and a popular trainer throughout Australia and the Asia
Pacific region. He was given the
prestigious 2006 Distinguished Contribution Award by the PMI Australian
Chapters in October 2006 in recognition of his contribution to the PMI
and project management education.
John conducts public and in-house professional
project management training via an associated business, Project Managers
Network. These courses - at Introductory, Experienced and
Advanced levels - are all closely aligned with the PMI's PMBOK™, which
is the USA's ANSI standard in the field, as well as Australia's National
Competency Standard in Project Management (NCSPM).
John also
conducts training in Risk Management,
Microsoft Project and
Business Case development, which are offered
to the general public via the University of Sydney's
Centre for Continuing Education (www.cce.usyd.edu.au).
The Centre also offers John's introductory 2 day
Project Management Essentials and
the advanced 3 day Project Management -
The Complete Guide courses
(the latter course is also given alternately by John's associates).

Consulting and training services

Throughout the year, our project management
courses are offered to the public via the University of Sydney's Centre for Continuing
Education (CCE). The University provides a full online
registration and booking service for our courses, including a waiting
list service when particular dates are overbooked. Check their web site (www.cce.usyd.edu.au)
and refer to the course category menu for more information and enrolment
procedures.
Since 2004, we have offered many new Project

Program and project managers, consultants and business analysts will benefit from this intensive one-day workshop.

Assessing risk in
business, projects and investments (1 day workshop)
This long established workshop examines
the role of risk management in business and IT projects as well as many
operational decisions, from capital investments or capital works
projects to simple departmental reorganisations. We'll also consider how
risk affects business contingency planning. This hands-on workshop will
equip you with the necessary skills, tools, techniques and
response/control strategies to manage risk in a range of business

Team problem-solving techniques for project managers (1 day)
This unique workshop provides project managers
and team leaders with a number of common team problem-solving tools
required in many aspects of planning and project management. These tools
include brainstorming, control charts, Pareto charts, flow charting,
cause-effect diagrams, checklists and other common forms of data
gathering and analysis. We'll apply these methods to real project
issues, such as risk management, quality control and status reporting.
The techniques covered are straightforward, the methodology is proven
and accessible, and the principles we'll cover can be applied to all
kinds of business operations and organisational planning.
