Company Profile

Project Alchemy is a specialist publisher and software developer whose objective it provide you with tools to implement best practice standards in your projects.  We work with experienced, practical project managers, drawing upon their field experience to develop reference books, templates, processes, guidelines, checklists and training tools that can be used by you in the real world.

We want to make you a winner!

The processes and concepts we publish are based upon the experience of real projects and are validated against industry best practice as documented in the Project Management Institute's Body of Knowledge publications and similar references, such as Australia's National Competency Standards in Project Management.

Contact us to discuss your requirements.  If we don't publish it now, we will consider it for future release.  If you have an idea, contact us - we are always interested in tapping the body of knowledge out there among fellow professionals.  We welcome all feedback.

Our Founder and Principal

Project Alchemy was founded by John Flynn, a well-known consultant in project management and the IT industry in Australia and the Pacific region.  He has been involved in project management education for the past seven years, conducting public and in-house training courses on behalf of Sydney University, the Australian Institute of Management, ESI International, the Research Institute for Asia and the Pacific and other bodies.

Over the past four years, he has taken these courses to China, conducting courses in Project Management and IT Project Management in Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Nanjing, Chengdu and Guangzhou.  He has also run in-house workshops in Hong Kong and Bangkok, among other centres.

He has written many consulting reports and articles on the IT industry and has worked for many years as a consultant in Asia, Australia and the USA.  Click here for a more detailed resume.

John also conducts Project Management consulting through our associate company, Makuta Partners Pty Ltd, including competency assessments, project reviews, business case development, team building and post implementation reviews.

John is also qualified to administer the Myer-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), regarded by Davidson Frame as the most useful psychological test for project managers (see "Managing Projects in Organisations", Jossey-Bass, San Francisco, 1995).  John also conducts workshops in team building and team development using the types and temperament theory.
