Microsoft Project Experts sites - some macros for download (try at your own risk!)

Note.  When you go to this last web site, please use the links provided in the right hand of the screen to locate a list of MS Project gurus.  Some of these consultants offer free add-ins and macros for use with MS Project.  None of these add-ins or macros are recommended, vetted, sanctioned or approved in any way by Microsoft, by their or their organisation, and, we will add, by OUR company either.  They are interesting products, but try them at your own risk.

This warning also applies to all the free VBA utilities accessed from the links in this list.  The utilities seem useful, but we do not endorse or guarantee them in any way.

University of Sydney Project Management Programme - University Outreach providing external training programmes in the field.  (John is convenor for one of the modules each semester).

University of Sydney Centre for Continuing Education - leading educational provider offering PMBOK aligned vocational training workshops in project management (2 and 3 day courses) These courses are conducted by our principal, John Flynn and his colleague, Harold Ainsworth, via their training joint venture, Project Managers Network.  See also their website www.pmnetwork.com.au for other workshops and in-house courses.

John also conducts his courses on Risk Management, Making the IT Business Case, Microsoft Project and Team Problem-Solving Techniques for Project Managers through the University CCE.  Check their web site for further details.

Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) - Australian professional body with local certification process based upon Australian National Competency Standards (which are derived from the US PMBOK™ publication).

Other project management resources

Project Boulevard - commercial information site for project managers.  Many good resources, some free, but you pay for access to detailed templates, etc.

Gantthead - commercial information site for project managers.  Good resources, some free, but you pay for access to detailed templates, etc.

Standards Australia - source of documentation for Australian and ISO standards in Risk Management, Quality and Software Quality.  You can now buy the Australian edition of the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, newly published in association with the PMI.

The Standish Group - source of the famous "Chaos Report" on software project failure.  A lot of their summary information is available free here and on other sites.

Construx.com - Steve McConnell's excellent site on software project management.  Recommended for all PMs involved in IT projects.

PM Talk - free e-zine (email distributed magazine) on Project Management.  Quirky but very useful.  Check their site for very useful training books, including one of the best guides to preparing for the PMP (the PMI certification) exam.

Microsoft Project User Group (MPUG) - see their web site for local chapters. They publish a useful newsletter on MS Project and have a members-only section of their web site containing presentations on using the product.
